Yesterday I received a magazine from one of the Die Cast Collectibles places that I have ordered from in the past and they have an exact Die Cast model of the first car I ever owned right down to the colors. It was a 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 and I ordered the model. It should be here next week I hope. Now I wish I still had the real car.

Nice score Ron77.

Post a pic when it arrives!

I'd have thought your first vehicle would have been a Dodge Bros covered wagon.

Actually Jack, back then I couldn't afford the luxury version so I waited.

I received the die cast of my 1958 Ford this morning and it is more than I hoped for. Everything is exactly like the real one, right down to the seat covers and Interceptor engine. That are only going to make 1,000 of them and mine is # 55 the Platinum Edition. I wish they would make one of the 69 Cobra now that I have seen the detail on this one.

You should ask them to make the model.

Ron77

I have thought about doing that but I am afraid they wouldn't want to gear up for a car that isn't very well known. And Ford did very little advertising in 69 about the Cobras. I wouldn't have know about them if the Ford dealer hadn't called me.

Here are some pictures of the die cast model. The picture of the motor came out dark as I was not in a good position but it is the police interceptor and has everything just like mind had.

Great detail on that ! How lucky you found one in the same colors, engine type, etc.

Bill,

I have looked for years for a die cast of any of my cars and this is the first one that I have found that was an exact match for any of them. I really wish I had that 58 back and restored.

Looks nice Ron.

Does it leak oil like the originals?

Ron77

Silver,

No it is the only Ford of any kind that I have that didn't or doesn't leak a little oil. That just seems to be a thing with any car that I get.

Nice Model!

They even got the tire profile right, and the trunk liner looks excellent.

Nice! Can you help me find a street 427 Cobra, ideally Vineyard Green (but I'm willing to paint it myself if necessary)?

I will see if I can find one like you want. Do you want the 289 model or the 427?

That thing looks great. They really did a nice job on it.

Thanks Ted,

I thought they did a fantastic job and it is one of my better die cast models. I collect them and I have some that are now worth over $1K. Several that I paid around $200 for are now going for anywhere from $350 to over $750.

Ron,
Thanks. I'd like a BRG or Vineyard Green 427 street Cobra. I found one die cast model without pipes, but it wasn't very accurate--kind of a blend between a 289, a 427, and an AC Mark IV.

Ron,
You motivated me to look harder. Found a pretty nice one--red, not green, but I may be able to change that.

Would definitely be interested in a green one, too, if you can find one!

Would either of these be anything like you want? They are expensive as I gave around $170 for them several years ago and they have gone up a lot since but the detail is fantastic. On the 1962 one the motor has the hand painted 260-XP on the valve covers just like the test one had. These aren't the color that you want and I don't know if they still offer them but id they do they will be expensive.

Ron,
They're both really nice. I was really looking for a 427, but PM me if you're interested in parting with them.

I also found these, which look really nice (and expensive), but they're a 289s as well...

That isn't a table. It is the end of my kitchen bar.

Evan,

I don't want to sell any of mine but I got those along with the set of 6 Daytona Coupes from Exoto. Fairfield Collectibles is al;so a good place to get die casts from as that is where I got the 58 and I have several of the other cars from them as their work is very good. I have about 100 cheaper models stored in the attic of the garage but keep the expensive ones in the house in their boxes as I don't have room to display them.

A few more of my better die cast models. The stainless Daytona Coupe was free because I collected the whole set of 6. These cars were each approved by Shelby and I could only get one every three months.

Mustangs including the model of the one that Chris Edelbrock drove in the Trans Am Series.

Nomad,

If I had room I have a lot more that are in boxes that I could display. No more than I drive any more I should sell the cars and use the garage as a place for my junk.
